Why James Hardie on an older home
Most of the homes we side were built before 1940, and the goal is never to make them look new. James Hardie’s 7-inch lap matches the reveal of original wood clapboard, HardieTrim rebuilds the corner boards, window casings and starter trim, and ColorPlus finishes from the Statement and Dream Collections come baked on at the factory, so the house is done the day the crew leaves.
Fiber cement does not rot, does not feed woodpeckers or carpenter ants, does not burn, and holds a new color for 15+ years if you ever want one. On homes built before 1978 we take the old wood or vinyl off with lead-safe practices, install new house wrap and flashing to Minnesota code, and back the install with a 10-year workmanship warranty on top of Hardie’s 30-year non-prorated material warranty.
