Roof Replacement for Minneapolis & St. Paul Homes

Q: Can Brava tile replace a cedar shake or slate roof on a historic home?

Yes. The Cedar Shake profile matches a hand-split cedar roof and the Old World Slate profile matches quarried slate, so a historic Minneapolis, St. Paul or Stillwater home keeps its character without the upkeep or the weight. Most need no framing changes.

Architectural shingles, Brava composite tile, and insurance claims handled when a storm hits.

Our roofing services include:

Retail Roof Replacement

Your roof is 20 years in, the granules are in the gutters, and you want it done before winter. We measure it, write a line-item proposal with real shingle samples (never pick a color off a screen), tear off to the deck, replace any bad decking, and install to the manufacturer’s spec. Most homes are one to three days on site.

Brava Composite Tile Roofing

For lake homes, Tudors, brick colonials and historic houses where asphalt looks wrong. Brava composite tile gives you the look of slate or cedar shake with a Class 4 impact rating, a 50-year warranty and a third of the weight of real slate. We bring full-size samples and quote it next to an asphalt option.

Storm Damage & Insurance Claims

If hail or wind got to your roof, we document the damage, meet your adjuster, and handle the claim paperwork so the roof gets replaced right the first time. We have helped hundreds of Twin Cities homeowners through the process, including overturned denials.

Premium roofing

Brava Composite Tile: the look of slate or cedar shake, built for Minnesota hail

Brava roof tile is a composite (polymer) tile molded from real slate and hand-split cedar, made in Washington, Iowa. It carries a Class 4 impact rating, the highest there is, a Class A fire rating and a 50-year limited warranty, and the color runs through every tile rather than sitting on the surface. It weighs about a third of natural slate, so most homes need no structural work.

We install Brava on the homes where an asphalt shingle would look wrong: lake homes, Tudors and brick colonials, and the historic houses of Minneapolis, St. Paul and Stillwater where a cedar or slate roof was original to the house.

Brava roof tile questions we hear most

What is Brava roof tile?

Brava is a synthetic (composite) roofing tile made from a polymer blend and molded from real slate and cedar shake, so it has the texture and shadow lines of the natural material. It is made in Washington, Iowa, carries a Class 4 impact rating and a Class A fire rating, and comes with a 50-year limited warranty.

How much does a Brava roof cost compared to asphalt shingles?

Installed, Brava usually runs two to three times the cost of an architectural asphalt roof, and well below natural slate once you count the structural work slate needs. The trade is a roof that is likely the last one you buy for the house, with no granule loss, no curling and a Class 4 hail rating. We quote it line by line next to an asphalt option so you can compare.

Is Brava tile a good roof for Minnesota winters and hail?

Yes. Brava is tested for freeze-thaw cycling and holds its Class 4 impact rating in cold weather, when asphalt shingles are at their most brittle. It sheds snow like slate and does not absorb water, so there is no spalling or ice damage to the tile itself. We still install full ice-and-water barrier at the eaves and valleys.

Can Brava tile replace a cedar shake or slate roof on a historic home?

That is where it fits best. The Cedar Shake profile matches the look of a hand-split cedar roof and the Old World Slate profile matches quarried slate, so the house keeps its original character without the upkeep or the weight. Most historic Minneapolis, St. Paul and Stillwater homes we re-roof in Brava need no changes to the framing.

How long does a Brava roof last?

Brava backs its tile with a 50-year limited warranty, and the material does not depend on a granule coating or oils that dry out, which is what ends the life of asphalt and cedar. With a proper installation it is a lifetime roof for most homeowners.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had roof and siding damage from a storm in April. Insurance approved the roof right away but initially refused to approve the full siding replacement. I worked with Christian Kullmann. He was able to work with the insurance company and they finally approved the siding. Christian was exceptional in providing assistance and guiding us through the process and how the Maurice funds would be allocated for the jobs. His team does great work. They were available for questions throughout the process. His project manager Tito provided good information during our walk through and providing additional guidance in how the jobs would be completed. Paris employees are great with customer service. The work they did made our house look like new. The roof job was done within a day of starting the job. The siding was done with 3 days. Clean up was good as well. The crews were kind, and answered any additional questions we had. I have dogs and they worked around their outdoor schedule which was great.

I recommend this company for any exterior related projects. They’re kind, professional, courteous, and have employees that are well experienced and knowledgeable. I give them 5 stars.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Christian Kullmann and the Paris Home Exteriors crew put a new roof on my house and garage as part of an insurance claim. Wow, I could never have done it myself. It was essential to have an experienced, organized, professional in order to get from report of damage, through the claim to a finished roof. If Christian had not documented his own inspection of the roofs the claim would have been denied for one of the worst hail storms on record. All of his paperwork was seamless which really made a difference. Paris finds great employees so you don't have to go searching and the price was spot on with no pressure for costly upgrades, no big mark ups on upgrades.
